Selling & Buying

How players list items, browse, search, buy part of a listing, bump, cancel and collect expired items.

This is the player side of the auction house. Every step here needs only optimalauctions.use, which everyone has by default.

Hold the item and run one of:

/ah hand 250 # the whole stack in your hand, 250 per item
/ah all 250 # every copy of this item in your inventory, 250 per item
/ah hand 2.5k tokens # priced in the "tokens" currency
/ah hand # no price: you are asked to type one
  • The price is per item. A stack of 64 at 250 is worth 16,000 in total, and buyers pay 250 for every item they take.
  • Suffixes k, m, b, t and q multiply by a thousand each step (2.5k = 2,500, 1m = 1,000,000). Commas are ignored. Currency symbols like $ are not accepted.
  • all counts every stack in your main inventory that is identical to the held item (same name, lore, enchantments), so /ah all while holding a diamond lists all your plain diamonds as one listing.
  • The currency is the file name in currencies/ (money, tokens, gems, …). Tab completion lists them. Without one, the first enabled currency file by name is used.

Without a price, the plugin sends PRICE-PROMPT and waits for you to type the per item price in chat, or opens an anvil when Search-Mode is ANVIL. Type cancel (or close the anvil) to stop.

The price is rounded to the currency’s precision first (two decimals, or whole numbers when the currency has Decimals: false). On success the items leave your inventory, you get LISTED (with a screen title) and, if Broadcast-New-Listings is on, everyone else gets LISTING-BROADCAST.

/ah opens the main board, 28 listings per page. The bottom row holds the page arrows plus two buttons:

  • Category (book) - opens the category menu. Shift-click it to clear the category and search in one go.
  • Sort (hopper) - left-click for the next order, right-click for the previous one: Recent → Lowest Price → Highest Price → Oldest.

Price sorts compare the value of the remaining stock, not the per item price. Listings are first grouped by currency (in currency file order), so money and tokens listings never interleave. “Recent” and “Oldest” use the last bump time, so a bumped listing jumps back to the front.

The category menu shows one button per category plus a Search button. Picking a category clears any search and returns to the board. Search asks for text (chat or anvil) and shows every listing whose item name contains it, ignoring case and colors. Items without a custom name are matched by their material name with spaces (diamond sword). Search keeps the current category, so you can search inside “Weapons”.

Your category, search and sort are remembered until you log out.

Click someone else’s listing to open the purchase menu:

Button Buys
Buy x1 (lime dye) One item.
Buy x64 (yellow dye) Up to 64, capped to what is left.
Buy All (light blue dye) Everything left in the listing.
Custom Amount (purple dye) Asks you to type a number (chat or anvil).
Cancel (red dye) Back to where you came from.

Each button shows its own total. A purchase checks, in order: the currency is available, it is not your own listing, the listing still has stock, you can afford it, and your inventory has room for all the items. A refused click flashes a temporary icon on the button and plays the DENIED sound.

After a purchase the menu stays open with the new stock, so you can keep buying. When the listing sells out, you go back to the board.

Your own listings show the Own-Lore instead of the normal lore, both on the main board and in Your Auctions (your head in the top row, or [listings] in any menu).

  • Left-click cancels the listing and gives back the remaining stock. It needs room for at least one item; anything that does not fit is dropped at your feet.
  • Right-click bumps the listing to the front of “Recent”. A listing can be bumped once every Bump-Cooldown seconds (default 300), counted from when it was listed or last bumped. If Bump-Cost is set, it is charged in the listing’s currency.

A listing fee is never refunded when you cancel.

Every purchase pays you its value minus the currency’s Tax, and you get ITEM-SOLD if you are online. When you are offline the money is either deposited directly (Vault, PlayerPoints) or held for you and paid three seconds after you join, with a PAYOUT-RECEIVED message.

When a listing runs out of time you get LISTING-EXPIRED (if online), and the leftovers move to your expired menu: /ah expired, or the ender chest on the board.

  • Click one listing to collect it.
  • Click the hopper (Collect Auctions) or run /ah collect to collect them all. Collecting stops at the first listing that no longer fits in your inventory.

Expired items are kept until you collect them, unless the server sets Expired-Deletion-Time, in which case they are deleted that many seconds after they expired.
